Ms. Sarah's Class

I believe it is important for students to learn how to protect the environment from a young age. Students can create artwork to explore the natural world and the impact of humans on our environment, and how we can recycle everyday found objects to create great art. We further examined environmentally friendly habits to apply to our art practice.

Lesson 1:

Pinch Pots

Students created a pinch pot out of clay and imprinted leaves onto their pots.

Lesson 2:

String Landscapes

Students painted with string to create fun, abstract landscapes.

Lesson 3:

Serendipitous

Self-Portraits

Students collaged on top of their self portraits using found objects to explore materials.

Lesson 4:

Paint-making

Students used oil pastels and vegetable oil to make paint out of drawing supplies!

Lesson 5:

Monotypes

Students made a painting on styrofoam, then transferred it to paper to create a single print from their image.

Lesson 6:

Symmetry

Students created two sets of butterflies, one hand drawn and one that mirrored itself to explore symmetry.
