Lesson 1: 
Pablo Picasso Inspired Portraits
The Picasso-inspired portrait was created using cut out construction paper. They were asked to incorporate a variety of shapes and colors. With layering multiple shapes and colors, it creates a more detailed self-portrait, introducing the students to cubism.
Lesson 2: 
Paint Like Pollock
To create their abstract painting, the students viewed Jackson Pollock’s artwork and attempted to experiment in their own way. The Idea was to dip yarn into the paint and drag it onto the canvas to create an interesting composition incorporating many different colors and lines.
Lesson 3: 
Pinch Pots
The students were asked to create a pinch pot with air drying clay. They were to incorporate multiple patterns and textures. Using the tools given to them, the kids used their forms of self-expression to create an interesting and compelling story.
Lesson 4: 
Playing With Shapes
The students were introduced to geometric art and overlapping shapes. They were asked to experiment with many different overlapping shapes to create an interesting composition. They were practicing with pastels and learned how to blend to create new colors.
Lesson 5: 
'ME!' Collage
For the 'me' collage, the students were asked to flip through magazines and cut out images, quotes, or words that they believe is a part of their identity. We discussed different types of collage art and the students were able to experience with overlapping and finding meaning within their artwork
Lesson 6:
Frida Kahlo Inspired Self-Portraits
The students were asked to create a self portrait that included an animal of their choice using colored pencils. They were encouraged to use their knowledge from the past 5 weeks to incorporate different patterns and fun aspects to their portraiture.
